Delta-8 is also known as “weed-lite” and “most chill among cannabinoids”. What about the health benefits this compound could bring?
We love the buzz from a D8 gummy but a relaxed, clear-headed high is not the only benefit of this cannabinoid. See all the benefits that D8 research has shown for your whole body!
Pain & Inflammation
One of the most important characteristics of cannabis is its ability to reduce pain and inflammation. Delta-8 is not an exception. D8 appears to have antinociceptive effects (block pain perception from sensory neurons) and anti-inflammatory (reduce swelling and associated pain) properties. Delta-8-THC may be able to relieve pain from things such as arthritis, migraines, and menstrual cramps.
It would be a huge breakthrough if delta-8-THC could effectively treat human pain. The current pain medications are addictive and can have side effects. D8 may be an option for people looking for relief. D8 is less psychoactive than THC and might be more accessible to people who take it regularly.
Anti-Anxiety
Delta-8, like other cannabinoids, has anxiolytic (antianxiety) properties. A survey found that 69% of D8 users used it primarily to treat anxiety and panic attacks. 52% also reported that they used it to reduce stress. Delta-8 could be an effective tool for someone who is often stressed out. You can buy delta 8 for retail from online and offline stores.
Nausea Suppression
Patients undergoing chemotherapy for cancer often experience nausea and vomiting. Research has shown that delta-8-THC can be used as a strong nausea suppressant.
It has been shown to prevent nausea in cancer patients. The eight children who received D8 treatment experienced no nausea and had no side effects in a study.
Anti-Seizure
The potential for Delta-8 to act as an anticonvulsant has also been demonstrated. Animal research has shown that D8-treated mice showed a significant reduction in seizure activity.
Already, an Epidiolex-based CBD drug is available for seizure disorders. It’s reasonable to expect that D8 could be used similarly one day.
Anti-Tumor Activity
Numerous studies have shown the anti-tumor properties of Delta-8 THC. Cancer research has shown that delta-8-THC, a cannabinoid, inhibits tumor growth in animal models and cultures.
We are not aware of any D8 drugs that can fight cancer, but we will be keeping an eye out for new developments.
Weight & Appetite
Delta-8 appears to increase food intake and appetite in animal models. Anecdotal evidence suggests that Delta-8 may also affect humans.
D8 doesn’t seem to encourage weight gain. Cannabis use is associated with lower body weight. Why is this? What could it be?
Delta-8-THC may help people who are trying to lose weight. It does not suppress appetite but instead interacts with the ECS to promote fat loss.
Eye Health
Since the 1970s, cannabinoids have been considered as possible glaucoma treatment options. This is because delta-8-THC and other cannabinoids interact with the CB1 & CB2 receptors in the eye.
Researchers found that intraocular pressure, a major risk factor for developing Glaucoma in rabbits who were given delta-8-THC, was decreased in a study.
Sleep Support
Research suggests that THC may increase the time you spend in deep sleep, which is a sweet and relaxing state that makes you feel refreshed every morning.
We can expect D8 to have similar effects on sleep cycles because delta-8-THC (delta-9) and THC (delta-9) are so similar.
